Planning for 2015
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving Holiday and a big Small Business Saturday.
Now it's time to start thinking about planning your 2015 business.
I know that December is a heavy business month and you have a lot to do just running your day to day business.
Here's a few tips to help you make December productive and profitable.
Be sure your store reflects the Holiday Season. Put out a decorated tree and other
Holiday decorations to put your customers in the Holiday spirit.
Feature Gift suggestions on a special table. You've probably bought some gift suggestion merchandise already. Be sure it's displayed attractively. Also look around the store and your stockroom for other items that would work on the Gift Suggestion table.
Use social media and your newsletter to let your customers know that your store is the
Scrapbooking Headquarters for Holiday Gifts.
And don't forget about starting your planning for 2015.
Here's some suggestions.
Start by putting your 2014 sales on a spreadsheet. If you have your weekly sales that's best, if not post monthly sales.
Then plan your 2015 sales by week or month. Use your current sales trend plus plan a little increase for 2015.
Also determine the value of your inventory at the beginning of year 2015. You'll need that to know how much you can buy at the January CHA Show or from your local Rep .
To achieve a modest turnover rate of 1 your average beginning of the month stock level at retail
should not exceed your total sales for the year.
My affordable program geared for small business owners can help you in this planning process.
