More Planning for Fall selling
Last month's Business Tips included planning your markdowns to make room for your new purchases.
I also touched on planning for Christmas Gift selling.
Now is the time to start your Christmas selling plans and what products you will be carrying as Christmas Gift suggestions.
First..Look at your current inventory to identify those products that you feel would be good for Christmas Gift selling.
Look for higher ticket merchandise . Those are the kinds of Gifts your customers will be looking for.
Then make a list of other gift merchandise you want to carry. Use information from previous years
for this .
Make an appointment with your Reps to get their input and suggestions. Place your orders soon
but you can schedule future delivery dates. But not too far in the future. You need to be ready for Christmas selling right after Halloween.
You want your customers to think of your store as the Gift Headquarters for scrapbookers in your area. You need to plant that thought in their minds early.
Group your Christmas Gift suggestions in a special area up front . A table with a Christmas motif will work well for this.
Finally, start using your newsletters and other advertising media to let your customers know that
your store will be Gift Headquarters for Scrapbookers.
And don't forget to start planning for Black Friday and Small Business Saturday. Several Vendors will have specials for those events, so talk to your Reps early about that.
Good Selling this Holiday Season.
