Promote your new merchandise

Stores are starting to receive their CHA Show orders.

I've received a few emails from Scrapbook Retailers that are promoting the new merchandise they ordered at CHA.

I suggest every Scrapbook retailer do some promoting of their new arrivals.

Use your store newsletter. Use social media. Use straight emails. Use phone calls. Whatever you can use.
But get the message out to your customers, and prospective customers, that they need to come into your store and see and buy the new merchandise you ordered at The CHA Show.

Now's the perfect time to start some new efforts to attract customers to your store. Here's an idea or two.

1.. Be sure to get the name and contact information on every customer who comes into your store. Some will be NEW CUSTOMERS.

2.. Get these names and contact information on your customer database right away.

3.. Prepare a newsletter or whatever media you find effective and send it to your updated customer database
with information on your new arrivals.

4..You might offer some kind of special to attract customers to come in NOW.

5.. Plan classes on your new merchandise.

6.. Consider starting a customer appreciation program. A lot of stores do this and find it very effective in fostering customer loyalty to your store.

7.. Move out slow selling merchandise. Actually you should have started this the end of last year, and most of you probably did this.. If you didn't, start right away. You need the space taken up by slow sellers for your new merchandise.

If you scroll down my Blog to the August 6, 2012 entry, there's more information about marking down merchandise you might find helpful.

But the most important thing to do is to get the message out to your current and new customers that
you have new merchandise in your store and they need to come in and see it.

Good Selling in 2013.
